As a woman, it’s easy for life to get in the way of your health. The home gets busy, particularly as children come along, mix that with work life, time with your husband or partner, and simply trying to keep the house organised – and it can quite quickly get to the point where you just feel like you don’t have the time, or the energy, to look after yourself.
But if you’re not going to look after yourself — who is?
Sure, life gets hectic. But if you’re not taking care of number one, things are only going to get worse.
5 Top Tips for Looking after Women’s Health When There Aren’t Enough Hours in the Day
1. Eat well
Lots of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds; include some red meat, fish, chicken and eggs. Anything natural is great. If you’re trying to lose weight or simply improve your general health, you might want to avoid anything in a packet.
2. Get outside
Not only is fresh air great for you, but sunshine provides essential Vitamin D which has a range of benefits for your health, including reducing the risk of cancer, heart disease, multiple sclerosis and osteoporosis.
3. Get some sleep!
If you’re a new, or even a seasoned mum; or you live a busy lifestyle that doesn’t seem to stop, getting enough sleep might be off your health radar, but if you want life to function property – you need to try to get about 8 hours a night. If you get up early, go to bed early. You’ll feel much better for it in the morning.
4. Exercise
Aim for around 30 minutes walking per day, or get to the gym for some resistance training a few days a week. It doesn’t matter what exercise you do, anything is better than nothing. It can reduce the risk of disease, anxiety and make you feel happier!
5. Get a check-up
If you’re not feeling 100%, don’t just wait it out in the hopes things will get better on their own. If you are down – the entire house could be down; so head to the GP for a check-up.
You might even like to have a chat while you’re there; get some advice; and have any tests done that might be due or overdue (such as a mammogram or pap smear) – if you only get to the doctor on the rare occasion for yourself, make the most of it.
