All the doctors at our practice are vocationally registered and have obtained Fellowships with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners which means they are expertly trained professionals satisfying the highest standards in Australia.
Dr Toai Phan
Dr Toai (pron. Toi) (MBBS, FRACGP) has twenty years experience as a GP and he is still passionate about his work because being a GP is a privilege . It is in the service of others and helping patients feel listened, cared for and achieve their health outcome that matters most.
Speaks Vietnamese and sees culturally diverse patients. Minor procedures include wedge resection of ingrown toenails and skin checks, Workcover Cases, iron injections/ infusions, and removal of IUD/Implanon.
Dr John Newton
Dr John is the backbone and main full time doctor at Freshwater Place Medical after graduating from Melbourne University in 2015. He sets the bar very high when it comes to life balance in terms of Nutrition, Fitness and a loving father of 2 young children.
Chronic disease management and care plans, sports medicine, skin checks and minor procedures.
Dr Adjoa Mensa
Dr Adjoa is our main female GP - she obtained her FRACGP in Melbourne and she is passionate about all areas of general practice. She is also an amazing singer!
Women’s health – cervical screening, insertion and removal of Implanon, family planning and antenatal care; Kid's health – including immunisation; Chronic diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus, Heart disease, and Asthma.
Dr Bridget Fernando
Bridget joined Freshwater Place Medical in 2022, having previously worked from Sunshine to Hallam and everywhere in between. Before medicine she worked as a prosthetist/orthotist, and outside of work enjoys time with family, art and picnics in the park.
She is passionate about person centred care and has special interests in women's, adolescent and LGBTQIA+ health.
Dr Amy Martin
New female doctor joining the Freshwater team - 3 days a week. Dr Amy Martin completed her medical training at Monash University in 2018, followed by residency through Eastern Health.
Dr Amy Martin enjoys working with the whole family, across all areas of general practice. She is qualified to insert and remove Implanons. Outside of work she enjoys keeping active and has recently adopted two senior rescue cats.
